Runtime Error

Postby praewarn » 25 Jul 2014, 18:41

I downloaded & installed new version 7.0.0 but when it completed and I opened the application I get a Runtime Error "this appliction has requested the Runtime to teminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I am running Windows 7 Professional
Below are further details from the application error window.

I'm looking forward to using the new features so hope you can help.
Thanks

Hi praewarn,
I'm sorry you are having trouble.

Often these problems are just due to a bad download or a bad install. I would recommend simply re-downloading and reinstalling.

If that doesn't take care of it we can investigate further. What version were you running prior to installing 7.0.0? Also, are you running the regular or portable version?

All the best,
Metalogic

Hi kefiro,
Just three days ago, version 7.1 was released. One of the improvements in this release is to attempt to show more details when an error occurs at start up. These details help in resolving the issue.

Finance Explorer is mirrored at download sites around the Internet and some sites take longer to update than others. I know you said that you re-downloaded already. Do you know whether your download was of 7.1? The version shows in the installer. If you re-installed 7.0, I highly recommend that you try 7.1 as it has changes to deal with this very issue.

Hi buddhawilliams,
I'm investigating the issue and have been unable to duplicate so far.

In order to continue the investigation, I have created a couple of diagnostic versions of Finance Explorer. You can download them here:
http://www.metalogicsw.com/temp/mlFinExp_trace.zip

Please unzip each mlFinExp.exe in turn and put them where Finance Explorer is installed. Generally that will be here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Metalogic\Finance Explorer\mlFinExp.exe

Then run mlFinExp.exe and you should end up with a small text file FinExp_*.log.

If you do this with each of the two provided files, you should end up with two log files. Please reply with those files as attachments so that I have the information necessary to continue investigating.

Thanks you,
Metalogic

Hi, first time user. I just tried downloading and running - on Win7 32, I also found the runtime error . Tired downloading from a couple of places, and also tried the portable version. All had the runtime error when the software tried to launch.
I want to try the software so I hope the glitch is sorted soon. cheers buzza

Hi buzza,
Thank you for your interest.

Version 7.2 was just released. You can get it from here:
http://www.metalogicsw.com/download/financeexplorer/mlfe.exe

There are some stability fixes in this release that will hopefully resolve the issue. Please try it and let me know the results.

Thanks,
