MFE 8 - Encryption

Postby BretMan » 24 Oct 2017, 13:51

Hello everyone, just joined.

I've read a few reviews about MFE and it seems to offer the functions I'm looking for. Given today's online security issues I also want it to have built in encryption but the reviews don't mention anything about encryption. What encryption and security features does it offer?

Thank you.

Hi BretMan,
Good questions.
MFE stores all its data locally. There is no "cloud" functionality so your data is not exposed over the internet at any point. As far as your local data, it is stored under your Windows user directory and therefore not accessible to other users on the same machine.

There are two things that do access the internet:
* (Optional) Retrieve the latest stock price for stocks you have added.
* Check for a new version.

Neither of those is sending personal information.

In summary, there is no encryption because your data is not exposed outside of your local Windows account on your machine. This is by design.
